YOUNGSTOWN AREA COMMUNITY THEATRE AWARDS
THE MARQUEE AWARD
The Marquee Award was designed to symbolize a variety of aspects of the performing arts.
First of all, the award is mounted on a solid black base which represents THE STAGE or PERFORMING SPACE on which the actor performs and the production is presented.
Rising from the base (or stage) is a widening monolith type of structure. Four golden bands are laid in upon the monolith with the entire structure representing the far reaching aspects of THEATRE and the PERFORMING ARTS. Secured to the top of the monolithic structure is the MARQUEE AWARD logo.
Finally, rising in front of the monolith is a tower in the form of a scroll to represent the pages of the actor's script, upon which appear the traditional comedy and tragedy theatrical masques. This represents, not only the obvious comedy and tragedy, but also the vast history of THEATRE and the PERFORMING ARTS.
